About the event
Les will connect you with the heartbeat of Irish Traditional music by explaining basic techniques for playing Jigs and Reels. Useful tips on holding the Bodhran and tipper handling will be covered in addition to tricks to mastering Jigs in 6/8 and Reels in 4/4.
This event is PWYC (Pay-What-You-Can) to make arts and culture accessible to everyone! Suggested minimum of $20/person.
Les Starkey
Les has been a popular Bodhran player and teacher in the region for over 30 years. He found his passion for this instrument through his mother's influence of her heritage and rhythm. He brings many hours of experience in performing at various venues and playing at many Irish Trad sessions. He has made pilgrimages to Ireland to absorb the tutelage of some of the top Bodhran players in the Irish Tradition and had years of experience playing in groups like the Grand River Ceili Band and…
