About the event
You’ll find a hilarious and welcoming space to try new things here in IRL’s Irish Song Workshop. Crafted with the self-taught singer in mind, we learn
two traditional songs by ear— one in Irish, one in English. You’ll discover the special magic of singing in a circle where everyone is good at
something and helps others learn without even realizing it. We’ll share our various connections to Ireland, learn qualities of traditional song, and
answer questions about singing technique.
At least one song will be one Karen is still learning, so she will unpack her process with the group, highlighting solutions to the real-life challenges of
song learning. Lyric sheets and links to different versions of the workshop songs will be provided a few days before the class.
