About the event
This beginner class will be for people with no formal learning of Irish. It is expected that anyone taking this class will not have had any experience with the Irish language before. The learners will be treated as complete novices. It is hoped that the learners will be able to use this quick introduction as a way of learning how to compose a basic oral conversation, such as being able to greet someone, ask how one is feeling, ask one's name, ask where one is from and answer all these questions. There may be some time allotted to a brief history of the Irish language.

Your Instructor: Pa Sheehan
Pa Sheehan is the Ireland Canada University Foundation (ICUF) Irish Language Instructor at the University of St. Michael's College, University of Toronto. Hailing from Sixmilebridge in County Clare, Pa was not raised in Irish but has developed a love for the language. This love for Irish has taken Pa as far as the University of Montana where he completed a year as part of a prestigious Fulbright scholarship before beginning his ICUF journey at Memorial University of Newfoundland before moving to Toronto this year. Throughout these posts, Pa has gained much experience working with beginners as well as advanced students and everything in between. His love for Irish culture equals his love for the language with a particular emphasis on hurling.
